Overview

Ophthalmology is the branch of medicine that deals with the anatomy, physiology and diseases of the eye. Ophthalmology literally means "the science of eyes". The broad goal of undergraduate teaching in ophthalmology is to provide such knowledge and skills to the student that shall enable him/her to practice as an internist and as a primary eye care physician, and also to function effectively as a community health leader to assist in the implementation of National Programme for the Prevention of blindness.

Facilities

Department is equipped with ultra-modern diagnostic and therapeutic facilities to provide an excellent academic and clinical orientation to the medical students. The institution also provides quality eye care services to the general population. Facilities to carry out routine eye operations for cataract, glaucoma, lid and vitreous, and retina are available.
